An AirTag dog collar is one of the simplest ways for dog owners to track their pets using Apple’s Find My network. By placing an Apple AirTag inside a dog collar with an AirTag holder, owners can locate their dog directly from their iPhone without needing a bulky GPS tracker or paying a monthly subscription.
Unlike many traditional dog tracker collars, an Apple AirTag dog collar works using Apple’s network of nearby devices. When another Apple device passes close to the AirTag, its location is securely updated in the Find My app, allowing owners to see where their dog was last detected.
For this reason, a well-designed dog collar with built-in AirTag holder has become a popular choice for everyday dog tracking. The key difference between a standard collar and a purpose-built air tag dog collar is how securely the tracker is integrated.
Instead of attaching an AirTag to the outside of a collar with a separate holder, a dog collar with AirTag holder built directly into the collar keeps the tracker secure, protected, and discreet.
At Bark + Shout, we design AirTag dog collars specifically for this purpose. Each collar features a hidden AirTag pocket sewn directly into the collar itself, allowing the tracker to sit securely inside the collar rather than dangling from it.
This creates a cleaner, stronger, and more comfortable AirTag collar for dogs, while ensuring the tracker stays firmly in place during everyday use.
Why Choose a Dog Collar With AirTag Holder?
Many dog owners initially attach an AirTag to a regular collar using an external AirTag holder for dog collar. While this can work temporarily, external holders often move around, break, or detach during walks and play.
A purpose-built AirTag dog collar solves this problem by integrating the AirTag into the collar itself.
The advantages of a dog collar AirTag holder built directly into the collar include:
More secure tracking
The AirTag sits inside the collar instead of hanging off it, reducing the risk of it falling off.
More comfortable for dogs
The tracker sits flush against the collar, preventing bouncing or rubbing.
Cleaner collar design
Nothing dangles from the collar, creating a more streamlined look.
Better protection for the AirTag
The collar protects the tracker during everyday use.
Because of these advantages, many dog owners now prefer a hidden AirTag dog collar rather than using a separate AirTag holder.
The Story Behind the Bark + Shout AirTag Dog Collar
The Bark + Shout AirTag dog collar actually started as a small experiment.
Back in 2021, when we were preparing to release our first range of dog collars, Bark and Shout had previously only ever made bows and bandanas for dogs. Collars were something completely new for us.
Around the same time, Apple had just released the AirTag.
Like many dog owners, I started experimenting with attaching an AirTag to my own dog’s collar. The concept made perfect sense - being able to track your dog using Apple’s Find My network without needing a bulky GPS tracker.
But every solution I tried felt clunky.
Most dog owners were attaching AirTags to their collar using a dog collar AirTag holder that clipped onto the outside of the collar. These often bounced around, looked awkward, and didn’t feel particularly secure.
So while working on the first Bark + Shout collars, I decided to experiment with building a dog collar with built-in AirTag holder directly into the collar design.
Using a thin nylon webbing, I sewed a zigzag stitch along the edge to form a pouch that was the perfect width for holding an Apple AirTag securely. That pouch folded back inside the collar to create a hidden AirTag pocket on the inside of the collar.
This meant the AirTag was fully integrated into the collar itself rather than hanging from it.
That small design idea eventually became the Bark + Shout AirTag dog collar.
The 8-Second Video That Went Viral
When we first released our collars, we posted a short TikTok video showing how the AirTag dog collar worked.
The video was only about eight seconds long.
But within a few days it started gaining traction and then suddenly it exploded.
Millions of people watched the video.
Dog owners started asking where they could buy this dog collar with AirTag holder.
The comments flooded in with suggestions and feedback about how to improve the design.
One of the most common suggestions was to add small Velcro tabs inside the pouch to keep the AirTag even more secure.
So we tested it.
It worked perfectly.
We added the Velcro tabs to the design and kept iterating.
Over the following months we posted more short videos answering questions, showing improvements, and releasing new colours and styles.
Those videos continued to gain hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of views, and over time the AirTag collar design alone has now been viewed over 50 million times across social media.
Today Bark + Shout has built a community of more than 150,000 followers across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
AirTag Dog Collar for Small to Medium Dogs (25mm)
The 25mm AirTag dog collar is designed for small to medium dogs.
This version provides the perfect balance between strength and comfort while still integrating the hidden AirTag pocket inside the collar.
Dog owners looking for a small dog AirTag collar, medium dog AirTag collar, or AirTag dog collar for small to medium dogs often choose this version.
The integrated AirTag holder keeps the tracker secure without adding bulk, making it suitable for everyday use.
AirTag Dog Collar for Large Dogs (40mm)
For larger breeds, Bark + Shout also offers a 40mm AirTag dog collar for large dogs.
The wider collar provides additional strength and stability while still maintaining the hidden AirTag pouch inside the collar.
For owners searching for a large dog AirTag collar or heavy duty AirTag dog collar, the 40mm version offers extra durability while still maintaining the same secure AirTag design.
Premium Fidlock Magnetic Buckle Option
Some Bark + Shout AirTag dog collars are also available with a Fidlock magnetic buckle.
Fidlock is a German engineering company known for producing magnetic mechanical buckles used in premium outdoor gear.
The Fidlock buckle replaces the traditional plastic side-release buckle with a magnetic locking mechanism that snaps shut automatically.
This offers several advantages:
- Easy to open with one hand
- Helpful for people wearing gloves
- Useful for people with reduced hand strength
- Cannot open under tension
Despite opening easily when pulled intentionally, the buckle will not release when the collar is under load.
Many dog owners choose the Fidlock AirTag dog collar as a premium upgrade.
Built Using Industrial Sewing Machines
As demand for the Bark and Shout AirTag dog collar grew, we invested heavily in improving our manufacturing process.
Today our collars are produced using industrial sewing machines, including specialised bar-tack machines designed for high-strength stitching.
This allows us to use 60s nylon thread, one of the strongest nylon threads available for industrial sewing.
A single strand of this thread is surprisingly strong - if you try to snap it by hand, it is extremely difficult.
Combined with a bar tack stitch, the same type of stitching used in climbing gear and slack lines, this creates an incredibly strong connection between the materials.
Each bar tack stitch is sewn forward and backward multiple times before being locked in place with a zigzag stitch.
The result is a collar built to withstand years of daily use.
LiteWeb™ Reflective Webbing
LiteWeb™ Reflective Webbing – Developed With Our Community
As the Bark + Shout Air Tag dog collar started gaining traction online, we realised something important: the collar design was working, but we wanted to push the materials even further.
After the early viral videos and the growth of the Bark + Shout community, we decided to invest more seriously in improving the product. That meant upgrading our machinery, refining our production process, and developing better materials that would make the collar stronger, safer, and more durable for everyday use.
One of the biggest improvements we wanted to make was the webbing itself.
Most dog collars use standard nylon webbing, but we wanted something that was more durable and also safer for evening walks. So we started developing our own webbing material called LiteWeb™
LiteWeb™ is a tightly woven nylon webbing that features two reflective strips running along the length of the collar. These reflective strips help improve visibility when walking your dog in low light, while the dense nylon weave keeps the collar strong, lightweight, and water resistant.
Developing this new material required investment, so we decided to bring the idea directly to the Bark + Shout community.
We launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the development of Liteweb and upgrade the machinery needed to manufacture our collars more efficiently. Within just 30 days, the community helped us raise around £10,000, which allowed us to invest in new equipment and move forward with producing the Liteweb material we had designed.
That support played a huge role in helping Bark + Shout grow from a small experimental project into a recognised brand specialising in AirTag dog collars.
Today Liteweb has become a signature material used across the Bark + Shout collar range, helping make our dog collars with AirTag holder more durable while also improving visibility for safer walks.
